Michael Floyd had a 0.217 blood alcohol level, could be jailed for (super extreme DUI)

Michael Floyd had already been hit with two charges of driving under the influence, as well as two other charges, following a Dec. 12 incident in which he was found asleep at the wheel of his car at a Scottsdale, Ariz., intersection. Now, authorities are pressing more serious DUI charges against the wide receiver, after tests revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.217.
That is more than twice the legal limit in Arizona, and if convicted of what is referred to in the state as “super extreme DUI” (a BAC over 0.200), Floyd could face a sentence of 45 days in jail. Shortly after his arrest, he was released by the Arizona Cardinals, and he was picked up by the New England Patriots a few days later.
Video of the arrest was released by Scottsdale police. It shows that Floyd was asleep in his driver’s seat, slumped back with his mouth partially agape, when an officer knocked on his window. Floyd appeared initially disoriented and had trouble following the instructions he was given by the officer.

Floyd practiced with the Patriots on Wednesday, before which Coach Bill Belichick said that the team was “aware of the situation” with Floyd when it claimed him. “He’s in an ongoing legal situation that I’m not going to comment on,” Belichick added.
The arrest took place shortly after 3 a.m., hours after the Cardinals had returned from a loss at Miami, and Floyd’s blood was drawn about an hour and a half after his car was first spotted (per azfamily.com). Police had to obtain a court order to get the blood sample because the 27-year-old refused to provide one voluntarily. Floyd was also charged with failure to obey a police officer and obstructing a roadway.
In addition to the possible jail sentence, Floyd could be required to pay several fines and install an ignition interlock device on his car. This is his second DUI arrest, his first coming while he was playing for Notre Dame.
The 13th overall pick in the 2012 draft, Floyd had been producing disappointing on-field results for the Cardinals this season before they released him. It is unclear whether he will play for the Patriots when they square off with the Jets on Saturday.
